I don’t always go the extra mile...
But when I do, it's because I missed my exit!
It was very crowded at the supermarket, and the customer in front of me had a large order.
As the harried-looking clerk lifted the final bag for her, its bottom gave way, sending the contents crashing to the floor.
"They just don't make these bags like they used to," the clerk quipped to the customer. "That was supposed to happen in your driveway."
The road we were on led us to a covered bridge just as another car approached from the opposite direction. At an impasse, the other driver—clearly feeling wronged—shouted, "I never back up for idiots!"
My friend put her car in reverse and replied, "I do."
I had just moved to an address between Sunrise Ave. and Sunset Blvd., one of Sacramento's major streets, and was explaining to a clerk where my home was located for billing purposes.
"I live between Sunrise and Sunset," I told her.
"Oh, Honey," she knowingly replied, "we all do."
